Just 2 weeks before the opening, Manulife Danang International 2020 was forced to issue a cancellation notice in the context of a disease outbreak. This is the first time in 8 years that the run on the Han River cannot take place as planned due to force majeure.

In order to encourage the athletic spirit of the athletes who registered to participate in the competition, the Manulife Danang International marathon 2020 was changed the competition into a virtual run and through the Run For Danang, calling for every runner joined hands to support the epidemic prevention activities.

Manulife Danang International Marathon was a pioneer in organizing virtual running in Vietnam as one of the activities to enhance athletes’ experience before the official competition, attracting nearly 3,000 athletes from all over the country. Manulife Danang International is one of the most traditional and famous marathons in Vietnam with the number of athletes participating increase annually, is the first marathon in Vietnam to be certified to international standards, making an important contribution to the development of the marathon movement in Vietnam in recent years.
The Manulife Danang International marathon in August was not organized as planned, but the Run For Danang Virtual Run event promises to also create an equal reputation for the humanistic meaning of this activity. It is not only a message but also a call for everyone to join hands in action for Da Nang city to overcome this challenging time.
It doesn’t matter where you run, but what goal you run for. As the main sponsor in the last 4 seasons, Manulife Vietnam continues to accompany Run For Danang with the challenge called “MOVE for Vietnam”. Each participant who registers to compete will install the ManulifeMOVE application and when completing 50,000 steps in 16 days, Manulife Vietnam will contribute 50,000 VND to the medical equipment supporting hospital. Manulife Vietnam’s goal is to raise an amount of VND 1 billion in order to support pandemic prevention.

In addition to give the community a healthy playground during this pandemic, Run For Danang also carries the mission of spreading the positive spirit in the community and calling on everyone to join for Vietnam to overcome this challenging stage.
